KC Mares Managing Director Data Center KC Mares contributes 30 years of data center development and power solution expertise around the globe for many hyperscale companies and providers to his position as Managing Director, Data Center, at Diamond Realty Investments. He also has maintained a focus on self-generation solutions, which is powering many large data centers today. Previously, KC led Onsite Power Solutions for Vantage Data Centers, leading to the creation of the largest behind-the-meter-powered data centers and in-use solutions. Previously, KC led data center strategies and acquisitions, site selections and developments in over three dozen countries, culminating in large data centers for Google, Apple, Facebook, Yahoo, and others. KC also assisted with several large data center company acquisitions and led a highly successful data center industry coalition supporting new technology innovations, advancements in energy efficiency, and the commercialization of new technologies. KC’s past work led to gigawatts of data center developments, leading data center strategies and developments for two of the largest internet properties: Yahoo and Google with their first owned data centers. KC has received numerous technology and data center industry awards and recognitions, and has served on advisory boards to several data center industry technology companies. He was also on the advisory board of UNR’s College of Engineering, along with chairing at different times both the SVLG’s Energy and Data Center Committees, in which he called the alarm of an impending energy crisis in 2001, and again over the last few years raising the awareness for needed new power solutions for data centers and the grid.
